Welcoming the 26th Dies Natalis of the English Literature Department: “A Journey of Self-Exploration and Celebration”

Bandung, 22nd May 2024 —  The English Literature Department is preparing to celebrate its 26th Dies Natalis on 4 July. With the theme “A Journey of Self-Exploration and Celebration”, this event has been prepared for two months and will feature a various of exciting activities with the aim of exploring one’s potential and celebrating achievements for so long.

Vice Organizing Committee, Muhammad Said Fatan, explained that the theme of “A Journey of Self-Exploration and Celebration” is because in this 26th, can be interpreted as self exploration, English Literature Academic wants to explore itself in this 26th years. 

Various activities have been prepared, ranging from Bandung Raya poetry competitions, Berkain day and even cultural performances. The poetry competition will be participated by students from Junior High School to Senior High School in Bandung Raya. Berkain day will be held on 22nd May 2024. On that day the students, lecturers, and staff use Dodot cloth or Batik to preserve culture. And then the students, lectures, and staff will perform several performances on Cultural Performance.

Dr. Dadan Firdaus, M.Ag, as Vice Dean for Students, Alumni, and Cooperation Affairs hopes that this Dies Natalis will have a positif impact on Students’ interest and passion in order to improve themselves.  Hopefully in the future, the Department of English Literature must be able to further improve its level, and this event should motivate students to understand what their responsibility are. “Yes, it’s hoped that this event will give positif impact on depelopment, so it’s just not a ceremony. I hope this will be an evaluation on what are our shortcomings, so that later by understanding and knowing what our shortcomings are, then we can cover our shorcomings and finally we can get improvements that are quite maximum.” Explained Dr. Dadan Firdaus M.Ag, 

This Dies natalis is not only a place to celebrate the department’s achievements, but also as a place to strengthen the relationship between students, lecturers, alumni, and administrative staff. Hopefully the spirit of “A Journey of Self-Exploration and Celebration” always inspire their every step forward.
